PRIVATE CLIENT SOLICITOR 3YRS+ PQE – COWBRIDGE / CARDIFF

This is a rare and exciting career opportunity for a talented 3+ Private Client Solicitor to join us. We are a well-established, friendly and successful Award Winning Practice with offices in Cowbridge, Cardiff and Chepstow.

Our well-regarded and thriving Private Client team have a strong reputation. The team were shortlisted for Private Client Team of the Year at the Wales Legal Awards in both 2022 and 2023. This outstanding team has expanded over the past few years and we would like you to be part of the growth and future of the Private Client department, building on and maintaining the client base.

The Private Client team provides a broad range of services including bespoke will drafting, probate and estate administrations, deputyship applications, trusts, Powers of Attorney, Probate disputes as well as court of protection matters.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • 3yrs + PQE
  • Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge
  • Forge and nurture strong client relationships
  • Experienced in using Case management systems
  • Be an effective communicator, capable of handling sensitive matters with professionalism and courtesy
  • Comfortable conducting networking and business development activities
  • Able to demonstrate experience of managing a broad private client (wills and probate) caseload

At Hopkins Law, we have a reputation based on trust and integrity which is why our clients keep returning to us. As a result of our success, we are looking to recruit an experienced Property Legal Assistant to join our team. The position is based at our Chepstow office and is full time. The successful candidate will provide direct support in a busy Conveyancing department.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:-
• To provide legal assistance to our Property Solicitors and clients.
• Preparing quotes, liaising with potential clients and assisting with queries, through to successful instruction.
• Dealing with the Land Registry, Mortgage Lenders and other relevant parties
• To assist the Property Solicitors in the management of their caseload by undertaking legal procedures as supervised by the Solicitor.
• To assist the team with file related queries ensuring client service levels and client standards are always adhered to.
• To ensure that clients are dealt with efficiently and politely and that appropriate legal matters are raised with the Solicitor.
• To attend to clients, taking instructions, and conducting letter and telephone enquiries as necessary.
• To process post and e-mails in accordance with the firm’s time scales and procedures.
• To progress cases on a timely and effective basis in accordance with professional standards, internal procedures, key dates and milestones.
• Making applications to Land Registry.
• Updating the case management system/lenders systems as appropriate to ensure compliance.
• Requesting appropriate searches
• Preparing files and closing and archiving.
• Undertaking training as appropriate. This may include (but is not limited to) firm training, regulatory training and developmental training (if appropriate).
 
What are we looking for?
• A Legal Assistant with 1 year + experience in Residential Property matters
• Someone who can operate effectively as part of a team with excellent organisation skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and enjoy being part of a busy team
• Computer literacy and use of a Case Management system
• A committed attitude and copes effectively in demanding circumstances with an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• The ability to communicate clearly and accurately to clients and other parties
• Use of initiative
• Excellent telephone manner
• Salary depending on experience
